We interrupt this writing blog once more...

Yup, more crafts. It all started with an innocent-looking plaid sheet I found extra-cheap. Hmm, thought I. Curtains for our naked basement windows? I called up my SIL and begged to borrow her sewing machine. She obliged.

Then I thought to myself, Wait! I have a baby girl! She needs stuff! Like a crib sheet to match the Raggedy Ann painting in her room. It was easy enough for even me. I followed this tutorial.
Then, what's a crib sheet without a matching valance? Even easier. I found way easy instructions for the valance, too.

Then I just couldn't waste the squares of fabric I cut from the crib sheet, so I cut some more squares from the Raggedy Ann fabric, the contrasting valance ties, and the extra trim from the basement curtains. I sewed them all together and used an old baby blanket for the bottom of the blanket.

You might notice the seams are less than perfect. That's because I believe that pinning fabric is for fools with no sense of adventure.
Then I decided it was time to return the sewing machine. 'Cause I have about five other project ideas, and I'm afraid that if I kept sewing, I'd never stop. Though I did see a nice machine for sale at Costco...
Throughout all this, I've been revising my novel, too. That's the problem with crafting. It's addictive. I think I'll wait to do more projects until after the novel is done.

You're so funny Kaylie. The Ragedy Ann bedroom turned out so cute. I wish I could do that for our boys room. I'm still thinking about it. Good job for passing the thinking about it stage and getting it done!

You are hilarious! "Pinning the fabric is for fools with no sense of adventure."
I'm on a sewing kick right now too. It's a lot of fun! Especially when you don't really worry about the wonky lines and such.

You are truly amazing. That on top of talented. And hilarious. Makes me wonder what talent will emerge next. And what words. Your Mommy is unceasingly proud of you!

sewing is very addictive. there should be a 12 step program for it, but then our kids would run around nekkid, and cold, because there would be no fabulous quilts, and our windows would be nekkid as well... the cycle is just too damaging to ever imagine NOT sewing! Run, don't walk to Costco, and become the proud mommy, er, owner, of a new sewing machine... Heck, if I was in Utah, I would drive you myself! A house without a sewing machine is a prison for your creativity! how could you do this to your family? this long without a machine? Really? there are no words...
I love you!
Mawah!
(this would be your long overdue dose of Kiar crazy!)

I like to go on crafting binges every once in awhile too. It's nice to be able to create real tangible things. I love all your projects. They turned out great!

Kiar--so that's why my kids run around nekkid all the time. I was wondering about that.
