It's a family disease

Last night, L. decided he wanted to write a story. He got on the computer and started typing(He's six and a half, for you newbies). It cracked me up to hear him talk about it. Here is a sampling of some things he said:

"Mom, I want thousands and thousands of people to read my book."
"When I'm done writing it, can I get it made into a book like this (holds up a bound book)?"
"I can't think of what to write next!"
"Can you get your writing friends to look at it for me and tell me what I need to fix?"
"Just let me finish this part and I'll come to bed."
"Wow! I have 133 words already, Mom!"
"I'm not going to write that idea. That was a really bad idea."

Ambition, goals, writer's block, revision, motivation, word count obsession, and self-criticism. What more does a writer need?

Sounds like a typical day behind the computer for me (minus the calling for mom). Then again, some days I do. :)

Thanks, everybody, for appreciating L's cuteness. I think he's pretty cute, too, not that I'm biased or anything. He's not done yet, but I hope we all get to read Starbuck's Holiday (about the family cat) sometime soon.
