Now what?

I finished the first draft of my novel. I had this super nerd goal of finishing it by New Year's. Actually, it's not that nerdy of a goal because I didn't make the first goal of finishing it for my writing conference in November. Anyway, I pulled it off this time and typed the last page at 10:45 pm on Dec. 31st.
I haven't done any writing since then. My mom came to visit, we went on vacation, and baby had a birthday. But then there's the other reason: I'm not sure what comes next.
I could revise book #1, which actually needs more rewriting than revising. I could revise book #2. I could start book #3, which I'm actually pretty excited about. I could write outlines for books 4,5, and so on. Plus I could query magazines. I prefer to write fiction, but articles validate my self-esteem and my bank account while I'm waiting to hit the big time.
I have a lot of unanswered questions right now. How much can I realistically accomplish with three wall-climbing children (oh yes, the baby walks)? Which projects are most important right now and over the long term? And do I really need sleep?

Congratulations Kaylie! Finishing is the first big step, right? its ok to take a break, I think... I think its healthy.

I suggest starting the project you can break into chunks the easiest, so that you can budget your time between your monkey-like children, your husband, and sleep. :P

Awesome! There is a contest on www.kidlit.com where you send in the first 500 words of your novel. The winning intro gets a 15 page critique from the kidlit literary agent. You ought to check it out! :)

P.S. thanks for stopping by my blog!
